The heart of Sarah Adult Day Service Centers is... SarahCare
|
 |
SarahCare is a special program of care developed by Dr. Merle Griff, Sarah's founder. SarahCare
offers unparalleled assistance to the client's special needs, but more importantly recognizes the
uniqueness of each elder. Beyond helping with the daily tasks of living, SarahCare seeks to share
in the richness of the senior's personal life.
It is SarahCare's recognition of what the elder can contribute to the life of the center that makes both
the elder, his or her family, and SarahCare's staff treasure the elder's presence.
Some of the innovative programs include:
Men's Club - Special activities and bonding experiences for elder men who often feel left
out in conventional adult day services programming.
Memory Corner - Sitting room decorated with antiques and memorabilia. A place
for elders to develop a rapport and closeness with their families and share their
rich histories. Memory Corner tries to make the past as important as the present
and consequently show the elderly how deeply we value them.
Caregiver's support group - A opportunity for caregivers to find support and advice
for the unique problems of caring for the elderly.
Intergenerational programming - Activities between older adults and children where
both groups deeply benefit from each other and develop close bonds. The older adults
are energized by the children while the children recognize the elders' value and learn
that aging is a natural part of life.
